Voids around a St. Louis manhole and stormwater pipe joint were severely leaking, causing significant inflow & infiltration issues for the city. After viewing camera footage provided by the Metropolitan Sewer District of St. Louis, it was observed that the I&I was occurring through specific joints from the manhole and lateral pipes.
In order to stabilize the soils around the manhole and seal the leaking joints, the URETEK Method® was utilized as the solution for repair. The URETEK Method® is a zero-excavation repair process where hydro-insensitive structural grade polymer is injected into weak soil strata to stabilize soils, fill voids, and seal joints through small holes drilled into the concrete asset. The joints were sealed successfully, remediating and preventing further Inflow & Infiltration in the storm sewer joints and manhole. The integrity of the pipe was kept intact and the project was completed in one day.
